  1. Ok I'm very new at this, this is the first film I have tried to convert and now i'm at the pulling my hair out stage.
having read the userguides, I tried to convet using EMPneg (or something like that) but alought the video converted there was no audio. So have got a copy of Virtual Dub but when trying to load the audio streams i get the meaassge"virtual dub has encountered an improper VRB audio encoding in the sorce AU file and will re-write the audio header with standard CRB values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce upto 125035ms of SKEw from the vedio stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed Wav file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder (bitrate 135.7+_ 35.7kbp)

I am using Virtual Dub 1.5.10 and the film ends .dvdrip.xvid.deity.avi.

when loading virtual dub in the user guide i am advised to look for a header once the film has been loaded of "video Streams", I only have video, will this be the same screen? and on the pop screen i dont seem to have the Demux button, finally on the user guide I am told to work out the bitrate using the Bit calculator on DVDR help any ideas where this is ???

Please help a n00b many thanks

    DVDRHelp Bitrate Calulator here.

To add sound to the mpeg you created you must create a wav file just as the error in Virtualdub specified. Here's how you do it:

    1. Open your avi with Virtualdub and ignore the error. Go to the audio menu and select "Full Processing Mode".

2 Go to file and select "Save WAV" and select a file name. This will create a wav file approximately twice the size of your avi.

Now normally you would use this wav file as the audio source in TMPGEnc, since you didn't do that you'll have to multiplex the sound with the video you have. First you have to create something that is compatible with your file. Different kinds of mpegs require certain kinds of audio. Please specify your destination file(DVD, VCD, SVCD) so I can let you know the best way to convert the wav file into something that will work well with your destination mpeg.

If your exported wav fil from VirtulaDub is 48khz (check under fileinformation in Virtualdub) you can just go ahead and use that. If it is not, you have to resample, virtualdub can allso do that (check under the audio menu) before you export, as Teegee describes.

If your video file is within DVD specs (loaded template in Tmpgenc?)
You can use fx. Tmpgenc DVD author and load your videofile and your audio file seperately.

    Hope it helps.
