I bought a new computer and installed a LiteOn 811s DVD burner and a Hauppague WinTV PVR 250. I installed the software that came with the hardware: Sonic MyDVD, Sonic DLA, Ulead DVD Movie Factory, CyberlinkPowerDVD, and ArcSoft ShowBiz.
Everything works great - I can record video and make DVDs with no problems. HOWEVER, writing CDs is another issue.
With my old system and it's CD writer, I was using Roxio's Easy CD & DVD Creator, version 6. It was the Basic VCD edition - afterall, I didn't have a DVD burner. There are conflicts between Roxio's drag-to-disk (DirectCD) and Sonic's DLA. With the Sonic software I can read the old disks, but not add to them.
I am tempted to install my Roxio software on my new computer, but I don't want to screw up my DVD burning which is working well. Can I have the Sonic software and Roxio software installed at the same time - using the Roxio for CD writing and the Sonic for DVD writing. Or should I just bite the bullet and buy an upgrade for Roxio, or (probably better) buy the Nero 6 software suite?
Any knowledgeable advice is welcome!

Roxio and Sonic together? Good luck, friend.
I'd go with the Nero Suite. -
There should be no issue with Roxio provided that you will not install Direct CD. Any packet writing software like this will put a VXD on the system that may create some problems (writing drivers collision). Roxio Direct CD is quite notorious in this dept. Do a custom install and deselect Direct CD.

The whole point of my wanting to install Roxio was to be able to use Direct CD. This is because all my old backup (data) CDs were written with Direct CD (on my old computer). Sonic DLA can read these disks but cannot edit the files or add to them.
I've pretty much decided to give up on Roxio and Direct CD and just go with getting the Nero 6 suite. CDs are dirt cheap and I can still read the old ones, so I guess it's not worth the hassle of trying to get my new computer compatable with a bad standard (Direct CD). -
usually it's best not to install any crap that came with the hardware. Especially burning software. They are free so you cannot expect much from these free bundle.
