    Just put in a new Liteon 16x DVD. The ripping speed using smartripper is only at 2.5, is this normal? as i thought i would be able to get much higher rip speeds?

    As far as i know it is. Im running XP Pro, and check the properties under IDE controllers it is tagged as UltraDMA Mode 2.

    Check IDE drivers, and also Enable Sync, make sure the drive is on a secondary IDE channel and not sharing an HDD, if you also have a DVD drive, then make it slave to the DVD drive.
