  1. My computer is not recognizing the PX-708UF Plextor. I just plugged in all the necessary plugs in the back of the computer and I have installed the software. The writer is on and opens and closes and all the settings are right, but my computer is not recognizing it. What should I do? Please, please help!

Is it showing in device manager? If not, bad cable, master-slave set wrong?

What type of computer, you have no profile info? What is not recognizing the burner? Is the drive listed when you click "my computer" ? If so can you right click then eject? When you look in the device manager like the guy before me said, dose it say "this device is working properly"?

The burning program is not recognizing it.

It doesn't matter if the computer sees it, if the burning app doesn't you might as well not have it.

Check to see if there is a firmware update, although you would think the app packed with the damn thing would see it.

Just had the same prob with my LiteOn 851. Reflashed, Nero now sees it and burns with it.. Didn't see it before, gave me the option of Image recorder, and CD-RW.

    After flash, burns perfectly.

    Cheers,

    George

Another thing that comes to mind is, update the burning software driver. Updates often include drivers for new burners.
    Thanks Mike.

  6. I installed a Lite-On 811s over the weekend and had similar problems. I replaced my Sony CDRW drive with the new Lite-On and kept my Samsung DVD-ROM. My bios didn't recognize the new writer OR the DVD-ROM. It was a master/slave issue compounded by not paying enough attention during install and forgetting to removing the CDRW from the device manager first. Flashing didn't help Nero to regonize it. I had to upgrade from 5.5.1.7 to 6 and then it recognized my drive. I have yet to get TDA or DVD-Lab to see the new drive (reinstalled them both twice)
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space.
