so I am ripping my DVDs with CladDVD in Disk Mode (IFO parsing) so that I can get one big .vob file that Windows media encoder can convert.
The problem is that nearly half of the dvds I am ripping come out with crazy times in them. Once I rip them, I rename the .vob to .mpg so that I can play it in windows media player before I use windows media encoder to convert it.
for instsance, I ripped Monsters, Inc and the time bar is set to zero the whole time the movie plays. The whole movie is there, and the vob is like 6 gigs...but the green bar that you can fast forward with is set to 0 the whole time.
This also happens when I try to play it in WinDVD. Other movies that I have tried will say the length is like 6 minutes, and I can navigate through the movie if I move the bar...but the movie is definitely not 6 minutes long. The Program Chain says the movie is 2 hours and 10 minutes long.
Does anyone have an idea why this happens?
like I said, It only happens with about half of the dvds I decode.
*BTW, I tried Smart ripper and DVD decrypter and I still have the same issues.*

media player is rarely correct on lenth on mepg files ...
also -- if your source was made up of several clips - each would have thier own time stamps - even though youve ripped into one big VOB .
also -- if VBR , media player and other players sometimes have an issue with either time display and or scrolling .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
just because you are using IFO parsing - doesnt mean that the timestamps are all re-written ..
