Problem with Plextor PX-708UF

I just inserted a DVD+R disc into the DVD writer. I just downloaded a couple of video files from kazaa (two Simpsons episodes) and I am trying to use the Drag-to-disc option to drag them to the disc. I try to drag them to the little drag-to-disc window and it says "This disc is read-only."

So, it won't let me put it onto the Disc.

So, I tried changing the file to read-only by going to properties and it still didn't work.

What is the problem exactly?

What do I need to do?

Sorry to double post, but the first question doesn't apply anymore. What I want to know now is how to figure out if my computer recognizes the external DVD writer?

First of all, it says "Please insert Blank Disc" so I insert it into the disc drive (of the external DW) and it continues to say "Please Insert..." So I was thinking that I may not have actually installed it to my PC, because I did not go through any installation programs. The only installation of the Disc writer was plugging everything in.

What do you think is going on? Thanks in advance!
