I am trying to find a program to Clone DVDs that my boss can and others can use. They want a one step program (put DVD in, push Clone, take finished DVD out). I have downloaded Clone DVD, I liked it, but I need more.
To give an idea of what we need to do: We have DVDs that were authored for us using our own video and audio files. We want to duplicate these for our customers, Sales reps, etc. (On my workstation I have a Pioneer DVR105 R/RW.) My first clone via CloneDVD I burned to our local net and then burned to a new DVD. Now, what I need is to be able to Clone a DVD, but change it from NTSC to PAL (or vice versa). We have customers all over the world (need to deal with Region Codes as well). I have been reviewing different programs and I have found one called DVD Cloner II. Is this "dummy" proof?
Hope someone can help me figure this out. I need to present something to my boss soon

  2. I may be wrong, but i don't think there's an easy way to convert from NTSC to PAL.

I am assuming that the DVD you want copied is a DVD-5 and youre not doing high volumes and theres no region.

I would use DVDDecrypter to create an image of the disk and then keep the image on your harddrive.

whenever you need a copy use DVDdecrypter to burn a DVD from the image.

openup is right NTSC to PAL is too hard, well it is for me.

get the crowd who made the DVD to create both PAL and NTSC maybe

I have tried DVD decrypter. Wouldn't work when I tried to create a new DVD. I don't have the software to author a DVD movie. I can do data, but nothing else in regards to DVD. Note, they don't want to shell out money to create top quality DVDs. They want me to re-create DVDs that someone else made and change their format from NTSC to PAL (or vice versa). They (the people I work for) want to have the simplest program so they can load it on their machines and clone DVDs while they are at trade shows. Big trade show in Germany coming up. Customers from all over going to be there. (deadline to figure this out is looming over my head. Wish that there was a straight answer to this stuff.....why isn't there?)
I understand that I am going to have to deal with region codes as well. From what I have read from posts, and the FAQs, I don't think Europe has much issues with the PAL and NTSC issue. The region codes will be an issue.
So, how can I ask this question so it is plain and dry? I need to Clone DVDs. The program that will be used will need to be able to do either PAL or NTSC. Need to be able to change region codes. Need to do this in very EASY steps. Need the cloning process to be as quick and simple as possible. Those that will be taking this on the road with them have no clue on how to do anything like this. So, please keep in mind that I need the most "dummy" proof program. Very KISS.

Do the people going to the trade show have DVD burners ?

if not then you may need to create all the copies b4 they go.

if they do , its at least 20mins to make a copy. is that acceptable, can the customer wait 20mins

From what I understand, their laptops will have a burner. I will be working with IS on this.
CloneDVD took over an our! What program can do it in 20minutes!!!! Yes, the customer can wait for 20 minutes. (From my experience, the only people who can't wait past 2 minutes are from the US....I know this because I live in the US)

I'm not trying to be mean, but I know this will come off harsh...

Your bosses don't know shit about video. To go one step further, people that impatient and unknowledgeable really just irritate the hell out of me. They want the impossible. There is no "dummy" program because video is not for dummies. It takes a bit of work. This is why 75% of all digital homemade video (that I have seen) looks like garbage. Only quick copying is for a dummy, and that's not what you want (you have extra steps you want).

If they don't want to pay for or take time for proper methods of converting framerates, it's not going to happen, especially, I repeat, ESPECIALLY not with some one-click-wonder software.

You cannot really add region codes either, not without editing the IFO files. Programs like DVD Shrink ask for your region selection, but still put it at 0 no matter what. This is a limitation of homemade discs and consumer software. One of my friends has DVD Studio Pro for authoring, paid a small fortune for it at the time, something I'm clueless on using, and is one of the few programs that I know of that can reset regions with any kind of automation.

Your burner and media determines the speed. Again, it's the stingy money thing. Higher speed is more money and newer.

.. again, not wanting to be mean, but you DID ask for the "straight answer". I feel sorry for the position you're in, because you're going to have to tell them "NO, can't be done".

Go back to using video tapes in high speed dubbers.

Preaching to the choir...anyway. Things have changed whithin the past few minutes. They now want...(are you sitting down...you might want to)...to copy DVD to CD. I did check this site and found that I can do DVD to SVCD. I suggested this, also explained that the quality of the Video would decrease. They didn't like that idea because they have never heard of SVCD and they don't think it will work on all computers. From what I have read, it will work on good majority. So, they want to take the video and audio files that are on a DVD and put them on a CD (so they can burn copies of). I don't think they understand that this just doesn't work that way. I still believe that for them, DVD cloning would be the best solution for them. I did it (and I am a newbie...in training...on my own)...but what do I know..I am just a dumb girl
I have asked the person who created our original DVDs to talk with them. He will figure out exactly what they want and what they can really have. Wish me luck....

  11. Send 'em over to my place. I'll edukate them properly.

Would this be an appropriate situation to use the term 'wankers'?

    Good luck, Tami.
