  1. Hi all,

Is there a way to create a pin-code or security code for a DVD? I need to create privileged access to DVDs I'm authoring so that only certain people can view the content. It would require the user to enter a pin code via their remote control before being able to view content. I've seen this feature in the hidden features of some DVDs (like T2). Does anyone know which authoring program I should use for this?

    Thanks

    Some help.
From what little i understand about the DVD command structure, it would appear you are playing with GPRM's (General Parameter Registers)
    Logical AND function perhaps.

...at least if you use DVDLAb. I use and love it. For $100 I don't know of any software that can do as much of the pro-grade fancy stuff! Even $500!

Keep in mind that this is only good for entertainment value and will *not* keep anyone from viewing your footage if they're really determined to do so. The code stops them from doing it on a dvd player, but a quick rip later and everything will be there on their hard drive, completely unencrypted. If you're looking for *real* security, then the only way to do it is to distribute a data dvd that contains encrypted or passworded files/archives. DVD video is unencrypted by design, except for CSS... and you see how long that worked.

You could always have a first play with a series of easter eggs that have to be pushed in sequence, but what they hay keep in mind what haloblack said.
