  1. I haven't been on here for almost a year, and new methods are always being developed. Anyone want to fill me in, as well as others, on their ways?

For DVD to DivX AVI to fit on a single 650-700meg CD:
I DVD rip using SmartRipper, then FLASK the video into DivX and ac3dec to rip the audio, then I mux the audio and video together using VirtualDub. I found this way the easiest method back then... but what about now? I liked how I can edit the audio if need be then mux it back with the video. But the reason I did this was because the audio had this high pitched sound I had to filter out with CoolEdit, and plus my comp wasn't powerful enough back then to handle audio and video at the same time.

I know hear about programs like DVD2SVCD and DVDx.

    Anyone discover the best-quality/fastest/flawless ways?

  2. vidomi, definetly vidomi. http://www.vidomi.com

    2pass vbr encoding.

i encode my own audio though, sometimes it'll screw up the audio encoding. and when it does that, your entire movie is fucked.

plus by doing your own audio you can make it vbr mp3, and leave more room for video. then merge them with nandub.

i do my audio first, so i know exactly how much room to give it for video. and it does a really great job at giving you the file size you want..

i'm telling you man. it is SO easy, you just rip the movie and load the vob files. it does the rest for you..

    plus the results are fabulous

  3. I personally like GuardianKnot (a DVD2AVI and NanDub frontend). Read the guides at http://www.doom9.net The quality is fantastic, and once you learn it you can also go from dvd to vcd using almost the same method.
