i have searched for this but i cant find what i am specifically after.
ok i have a panasonic dmr-e50 hooked up to my tv via a satellite receiver.
anyway, i want to hook up my vcr to the dvd recorder without messing up all the scart leads - getting everything to work was a nightmare - so i figure i can use the AV3 on the front of the dvd recorder. i have a scart adapter for s-video and audio/video cable so i can put the scart bit into my vcr and the s-video and audio/video cables into the av3 on the front of the recorder. when i tried this though i couldnt see the video on my tv, not sure why - i think i might need to select av3 on the dvd recorder but not sure how.
any help?
thank you!

Use the "Input Select" button in the concealed compartment on your remote control to select the AV3 input.

Morning,
this may just be a US/European model issue but on my EMR-50 there is no input button in the concealed compartment. To select other AV channels I use the channel up down buttons, once you go below 1 you drop into the av inputs e.g.
On channel 1
press channel down
AV4
press channel down
AV3
press channel down
AV2
press channel down
AV1
Incidently if it's any use I have my system connected as shown below
This does not include items such as my av amp etc.
Cheers

thanks for responces, i have located the input select button on the remote, great stuff. one last question (maybe) when i select av3 this way and with the vcr only being attached to the dvd recorder and not the tv - with the vhs show up on my tv? if you know what i mean?
do i select say av1 on my tv (thats what my dvd recorder is connected to my tv using a scart lead.
thanks again. -
Hi there
assuming the tv is hooked up to av1 on your E50 you should be able to view the vcr playing into the e50 via the tv, this means you can also time slip and view the actual recording quality which can be handy.
Cheers

Michael,
I have an E-50 too and it's odd that your front-panel input is "AV3" and mine is labeled "L2". Maybe because yours is the euro version and mine is US? -
could be mate, i dont know if the euro and british or us for that matter are different.
what other differences are there i wonder... -
Michael,
Also we don't use the SCART connector over here.
One thing to always remember ....don't forget to finalize your DVD-R burns. Many people have returned their E50s to the store because they couldn't play them on their set-top player ...they didn't finalize because they didn't read the manual. I just wish I could have been there to offer to buy these "defective" units for 50% off -
thanks guys, great news for me! capmaster, what do you guys use instead of scart? i couldn't imagine not using them! and thanks for the tip on finalizing dvd's - one last question then, whats the best recordable media to use with this model?
thank you again! -

That's the only brand I've tried so far in the E50. It eats 'em up with only the rare bad one. I had a few recently that wouldn't let me finalize, but usually it likes them fine. I have a couple of Panasonic DVD-RAM discs but I don't use those much. I might start experimenting with it soon.
