I just bought a 25 pack of Memorex DVD+RW from CompUSA for 20 dollars. They are 2.4x It was a special sale for today only. Was that a good deal? How long does it take to burn a whole DVD at 2.4x? Should I just return them and go get a 25 pack of DVD+R from BestBuy (TDK 25 pack 25 dollars)?
Thanks for the help.
I am a newbie to all this.

It depends if the Memorex DVD+RW is manufactured by RICOH or CMC. If it is CMC then it's crappy media. I would suggest you purchase the TDK DVD+R. 2.4 speed would take about 25 min.- 30 min to burn. It also depends on how fast your dvd burner is. Use DVDINFOPRO or DVD IDENTIFIER to find out the manufacturer of the Memorex DVD+RW.

My DVD burner is 4X. I don't want to open them and check because then I can't return them.
How does it take 25-30 mins to burn 4.7 gigs at 2.4x I remember to burn a full CD (700 mb) on my 8x cd-rw it took like 17 mins. I don't know much about these speeds so are they adjusted for DVD vs CD. What does 2x mean anyway?
Thanks,
Todd -
I know for a fact COMPUSA will take back the dvd discs if they don't work for you. I once returned 2 spindles of Memorex DVD+R and they took it back as long as you have a receipt and bring back the discs that didn't work for you. As for the 2x speed means it will only burn @ the 2x speed from your dvd burner. 4x speed is faster and would take less time to burn compared to a 2x speed. Try using one of the dvd+rw you purchased and you will see it will only burn at 2x speed and not 4x speed. You mentioned you are new to this. Look at the guides to the left.

The last 25 pack Memorex 2.4X +RW I bought was media id INFODISC. No problems in an Iomega burner or Philips dvd recorder. $20 is a great price. It's a sale to get people in the door.
When they have a sale like this, they usually only have a few in stock, so consider yourself lucky to get this deal.
BTW, I have also used memorex 4X -R which are CMC. No problems. -
I bought 2 spindles of those Memorex +RW during that 6 hour sale. I tried 2 of them and had problems. They never seemed to finish finalizing. It just kept going and going and going.
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space. -
I just returned mine today. CompUSA was soo cool about it. It was past the 14 days they give, but they took it back anyway! And I bought a 25 pack of TDK DVD+R for 25 dollars. That sale goes on until tomorrow I believe.

Send 'em to me! Send 'em to me!
If those are INFODISCA01 2.4X +RW discs, my burners love them! -
Sorry, but they are at CompUSA now.... you can get them for 45 dollars though.....

No can do. The nearest one is almost 4 hours away.
Good luck. The TDKs should do you well.
