If someone would be kind enough to point me to a guide or give a tried step by step process to convert from Xvid to DVD when the sound stream is linear PCM, I shall be grateful. I have read many posts and tried a lot of tools but cannot convert a Linear PCM sound stream to a format which can be used with DVD and merged with mpeg.
Thanks...

Linear PCM can be used on DVD. See TMPGEnc Plus and TMPGEnc DVD Author
Of course you can convert the audio to mpeg1 audio layer2 as Lpcm eats up lots of space
