As I see it, you have 2 things working against you here .... your media & your labels.

Lose the labels and lose the media, in favour of Riteks and you will lose the problem.

Trust me I'm a doctor the penny seems to have finally dropped with our instant expert nickelzy, also, judging by his more recent posts here

  3. I would suggest trying to recording the DVD at 1X. It will work great with or without the labels. The problem is not with DVD Shrink, the DVD media nor the labels. It's with the DVD burner. All 4X DVD burner will burn at 4X, but there is no guarantee of a quality product or a working product. Try recording at 1X and let me know how that work out.

Incorrect ...... the majority of people with 4 X burners are burning at 4 X, without any problems. You are misinformed.

  5. Not everyone is a doctor like you and can afford a good DVD burner. If you are having an issue with freezing or with the labels, THEN try burning at 1X. I have Pioneer 4X and it works great with the Ritek G04 also. And I also have a cheaper DVD burner (Emprex) on a different computer that doesn't work so well with the Ritek G04 unless I burn it at 1X.

I'm not sure if you read the whole thread here m8, but SKiNFreak is using Bulkpaq disks, which are known to be troublesome, in any Burner.
He may well get better results burning crap disks at 1 X, but that defeats the whole object of having a 4 X Burner.
I'm not familiar with your Emprex drive, but if it's capable of 4 X and advertised as a 4 X Burner and cannot achieve this, you should experiment and find out which disks it can burn at 4 X. If it cant do any, then send it back.
To recommend settling for 1 X and 1 hour burns, without changing media is very defeatist

Also labels do cause playback problems for many people, so at least until he solves the problem, he should leave them off.

BTW I am not a doctor or rich, that was my failed attempt at being humorous

  7. You are correct, why not use the 4X drive to it potential. Majority of the 4X does work, just not when you put the labels on them. All I saying is, if you are having an issue with the labels, try it at 1X. Just because you have a sports car, doesn't mean you have to drive fast all the time.
