  1. I’m having problems when backing up Pirates of the Caribbean using Shrink, in Full disc and Re-author modes, midway through the encoding process I get a copy protection error and have to abort. I have used Decrypter also before using Shrink but still have the same problem.

DVDXPRESS on the other hand gives perfect results.

As you boffins on this site are particular Shrink fans and the mention of 321 software starts everybody into hysterics, could you please help.

    Shrink version: 3.1.6
    Decrypter version: 3.2.0.0

  2. This is ddloping's advice on the DVD SHrink forum :

"Copy protection error - The read failed because the sector is encripted.

    Possible workarounds:

    1) Start playing the original DVD with your software player.
    Pause it.
    Start the DVD Shrink process.
Stop and close your software player.

    2) Use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD first (as described here), and then use DVD Shrink "Open files", selecting the "VIDEO_TS.IFO" one."

    Hope this helps

  4. No problem .... I have successfully copied the UK (PAL) version of POC, with latest DVD Shrink, without any problems.

Not sure where you are located or whether you're using the PAL or NTSC version, but it probably is just the "unlock drive" issue.

  6. Sorry ..... that's what playing the DVD in your Software Player does, as described above, in ddlooping's advice.
