  1. I recently acquired a "DVDRip.XviD.AC3.Rolex.avi" with the following attached Gspot output but cannot get the sound to sync when trying to convert to DVDR. I've rigourously gone through the standard "AVI to DVD with AC3" routines but all to no avail...is there something I'm missing?

For starters, you can try describing your efforts thus far in explicit detail.

  3. details:

I already did "convert a AVI,DivX or XviD with AC3 audio(Dolby Digital) to a DVD with AC3 audio" by following the step by step guide from this forum. The only problem I came across was the calculated bitrate was 9341 and tmpgenc+ would only go up to 8000 so I wasn't sure what to do there so I set it at 7914 using a custom DVD of 4Gb with a 448 audio bitrate. The AC3 was 0x2000 AC3 and extracted with Vdub ok but needed fixing with beslice. I set all the other settings in tmpgenc as specified and the mv2 file turned out at 3.9gb with good quality. I added the mv2 and ac3 to TMPGenc DVD Author but the burned output was out of sync within the first few minutes of the movie.

The only other thing I can think of is that I perhaps needed to add the source sub and idx files to the avi conversion but I don't want the subtitles and haven't added these so far...could this be the possible cause for the lag? If I need to add these what steps do I need to perform?

    Additionally info:

File: 740 MB (or 758,100 KB or 776,294,400 bytes)

    Stream type & AV-Interleave: OpenDML AVI, IMRR 0.53 & I/L 1 vid frame (42 ms) Split: Yes

    Video: Xvid MPEG-4 codec, 01:05:00 (93,506 fr), 640x272 (2.35:1) [=40:17], 1138 kb/s, 23.976FPS & 0.273 bits/pixel

    Audio: ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Laboratories, Inc, AC-3 ACM, 448 kb/s (5 ch) CBR & 48000 Hz

    Renderer: (S) --> AVI Splitter --> XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder --> (R), (S) --> AVI Splitter --> AC3Filter --> (R)

The source quality is good and I have so far managed to keep the output quality the same, like I said the only problem is syncing the sound.

Thanks for your time and effort!

Is this the guide you're talking about? In the future, please at least post a link to the guide you are referencing. Nobody is going to be able to point out what you did wrong if your work process is unclear. That being said, is there anything you did different from the guide?

  5. Yes "https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/186739.php" is the guide and like I stated previous the only thing different was that the calculated bitrate was higher (9341)than tgmpeng would allow me to set, which was a maximum of 8000. Additionally I didn't convert the sub and idx file ....just the avi.

Please forgive me for being such a dumb T**T, only I thought this forum was for condescending P****S to flame the S**T out of us newbies!

art15t,the only way anybody gets flamed here is if they dont bother to read any guides and demand people to help them, for audio sync problems its a manual chore to fix if only part of the movie goes out of sync,i find its best to get the ac3 and use besweet to save as wav and edit the affected part so you either add or remove or even stretch the timeline depending on the way the audio goes out, goldwave is good for this editing.

I wasn't condescending, nor did I even remotely attempt to flame you. Good luck fixing your problem.

As of late it seems to be a place where people who have no idea what they are doing come for a "quick" fix with some crap file they downloaded when most of the information they need is here but NO instead they want an answer NOW and even tend to be rude about it when they get no answer back that they think is helpfull or usefull or fixes their problem.

And frankly some crap downloaded files just can't be fixed.

I think you should apologize ASAP on this thread to teegee420 who was only trying to be helpfull.

  10. "crap download file" now fixed and many thanx to Johns0. The problem was a 6.4sec insert by "rolex" to the beginning of the movie, rather than convert the movie again, i used goldwave to insert likewise into the audio.

I came here after exhausting all attempts at solving the audio sync problem. I never once demanded that I should receive help and if you look at the progression of the thread you will see that I had taken the time to solve the problem via the online conversion instructions and the FAQ before I hit my first post.

The first response got me ... "For starters, you can try describing your efforts thus far in explicit detail"......which I did to the best of my newbie single cell in the subsequent thread. That followed with a slap on the wrist for simply not putting a link ..."Is this the guide you're talking about? In the future, please at least post a link to the guide you are referencing. Nobody is going to be able to point out what you did wrong if your work process is unclear. That being said, is there anything you did different from the guide?" ....and if teegee had taken the time to read my previous response instead of laying down the rule book, I had already explained what I had done that was different from the instructions.

Apologies to teegee420 for my outburst, i guess i was out of order?

No worries, dude. I still think you completely misread me but that's alright. I'm not going to waste my time arguing. You solved your problem and that's all that matters. Glad you worked it out.
