  1. Ok, so with VCD2SVCD or DVDx, I can do straight DVD to VCD/SVCD rips with audio and video, correct? I wouldn't have to mux them back together? Has anyone had any problems with silent (or even loud) high pitched noises in the audio? What I have to do is use a separate audio ripping program, then filter out the high pitched sound using CoolEdit. Does anyone know why this happens? Does this happen to everyone? And what is the best audio ripper out there that doesn't do this? Cuz, filtering out the high pitched sound takes another 2hours+ of my time.

DVD examples of high pitched noises that I have encountered:
Silent: The Princess Bride, Dungeons & Dragons
    Loud: Ninja Scroll

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

  2. Either split out your audio using DVD2AVI then downmix with Azid, or use Graphedit. Guides at http://www.doom9.org

I use to rip with smartripper, demux the audio track to a extra AC3 file. Downmix with Azid, downsample and normalize with ssrc, encode with toolame. Very good quality, no problems at all.

What's "downmixing" and "downsampling"? I've never heard of that term before...? I only know what normalizing is. LoL. Heh.

downmix DolbyDigital 5+1 channels to stereo 2 channels
    downsample 48kHz to 44,1kHz ([S]VCD requires 44,1kHz samplerate)
