  2. your dvdrw will be better suited as the master.

have you installed any unsigned drivers? is the writer set to DMA and NOT PIO mode?

OK Have you changed anything since it last worked ? If the answer is NO then it is most likly that the drive has failed.. If you have changed anything then that could be the problem.
As you have refinstalled windows you have lost one of the best ways out.....Rolling back to a date that worked.

Also a more descriptive thread title might get more answers....

  7. Burners always work better if set to master.
Just swop the jumpers on the back of both drives so that burner is master and cd-rw is slave.

Sorry i dont know which aspi driver you are talking about.

  8. You can try forceaspi which can be found in the tools section of the website. It should work fine for you, as long as the drive is reconized by winbloze.
I say that having just seen another post of yours which suggest the drive isn't working at all.
Isolate the drive on a ribbon by itself set as master and see if you can use it as a cd-rom first (i.e. just able to read a sofware cd) if it can then download and install forceaspi that should help with your ASPI layer.
Then try burning, it should work.
IF not post the error message?
If you are using Nero then you should have nero's Aspi installed, if not then install a recent version of nero (even a demo) it will install the ASPI in XP or 2000 automactically.
    Anyway hope that helps

You can get ASPI drivers from Nero website, Adaptec.com or Cnet.com or just Google ASPI. As indicated set it temp. as the only drive on the IDE channel/cable. You may have somehow changed BIOS settings so set it to optimized defaults. Make sure busmaster works (install driver if needed) as well as DMA. Lastly install it in another computer replacing working burner. If it fails get it repaired/replaced.
