  1. Currently what I have been doing is extracting the real dvd with dvd shrink and then burning them with nero. But I want to know is if I need to make another backup will I have to use dvd shrink with no compression and burn with nero to backup the backup? Can you make backups non-backupable (if this is a word) Or encrypt your own dvds?

  2. please search the forums for your answer before you post. I swear that someone posts this question at least once a day. Then the barrage comes from the "saints" accusing you of being a pirate, and then smart asses like me who tell you to do some research. However, that is nothing compared to the ridicule you will receive for your encrypting question because if you could, then why can't the movie studios? That question is also asked pretty frequently.

  4. Well I think it is kind of unfair for you to say do some research by searching the other post. I am new to this forum, that is why I posted this post in the newbie section. As for the "saints" flaming me, I am asking about this because I have some home videos that I wanted pressed into a real dvd and I was going to make copies for my relatives. Also the reason that I ask about the encrypting Cssc thing was because some of the relatives would be crazy enough to copy and sell my home videos. So can someone please help a newbie out?

I thought exactly the same as AarontheRipper but as your persistant... Once you have decrypted and shrunk your DVD and made a backup, you can simply copy the backup. You can't re-encypt them so anyone can copy them so don't hand them out.

This of course does leave the question. If they are home movies they wouldn't have been encrypted in the first place and wouldn't be on DVD9 disks so wouldn't need shrinking. Why don't you just admit that you are ripping off commercial movies rather than trying to treat people that obviously know far more about the subject than you do as idiots.

  6. Once you made a copy and wanted to make a backup of the copied then you can save yourself all the extra steps by just use something like Nero and do Disk-to-disk copy. Because once the original movie has been ripped, decrypt, and burned, the backup copy is less then 4.7GB and decrypted so meaning you can just copy as if you are copying files.

After reading that, I have to ask you "Who would buy your home movies and why?"

  10. I was asking about this because the home videos are going to be pressed to a dvd. I know that they have two dvd formats the 5 and the 9. I know the movie is over two hours in length and it is more than one movie. It is actually a wedding and a reception. I know no one would probably buy the movies but I have some relatives that will do anything for a buck. Even stealing another relatives dvd movie. And as for as the encrption part notice that I did not ask about how to re-encrypt the movie but to encrypt the movie. That would imply that it is not a commercial dvd nor do I want them be. You guys sure do know how to welcome a newbie to the forum. Why does everyone think someone is trying to do something bad. I see the notices about asking warez and stuff. If I wanted to know about something illegal I sure would not ask about it here. I am not trying to cause trouble or anything I was just trying to get a few questions answered. That is why I posted this in the newbie area, because I am trying to learn something not start a war. If everytime I post something I have to defend myself, will it be worth asking a question.

  12. Yes region coding and macrovision can be enabled on your discs, assuming that the company that you are using offers it, and you ask them to do it.

That would be the day a relative would steal any of my DVDs...Have you looked at locking them up in a vault or maybe getting some security guards to watch them?

  15. I don't know, his relatives sound like real characters. I mean, if they would try selling a wedding video...

Might be entertaining watching the wedding and trying to spot how many times they try to pick eachothers pockets.
