Hi I am looking for a SIMPLE application to convert my movie (.mov) to best possible formt for my new DVD writer. Guess thats VOB? As any DVD player can read VOB files.

Also I am confused if I should use/by DVD-R or the DVD+R media?

If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

you didnt say anything about what type of dvd you wanted. You cant get any better quality than the .mov so it really doesnt matter how you make it in terms of quality

Toast 6 has a nice feature of drag and burn to dvd.

As per the type of disk to use (-/+) you didnt say what type of dvd burner you have. Typicall macs have -r burners meaning you can only use -r media. But if you have a self installed -/+ drive or a G5 then you can use whatever you want.

    Hi,
The type of DVD I want? I’m not sure I understand but I wont to convert the .mov and burn it so I can watch the film on my “normal“ TV-DVD Player or Playstation etc.

Why I ask about +/- is that I see that DVD Studio Pro only support “-” but I heard that “+” is the better choice of media and can be read by more DVD Players?

My DVD writer is a NEC 2500A and can burn both +/-

well one.. dvd studio pro can build dvds that can be burnt on + or -.. id say as far as compatibility in my experience they are pretty close but "-" still seems to be my choice. either way as long as your burner supports your media u dont have to burn in dvd studio pro, u can build there and burn in toast or even use apples built in burning software. I personally think iDVD is awful but u want mov to be on a dvd so it is a possability. it all depends on all the things you are lookin for.

DVD Studio Pro don’t support DVD+R only -

I tried DVD Studio Pro but it’s a hustle for a newbie and complains that it can’t find track 1, BUT IT’S THERE???

DVDSP2 doesn't actually care if you use - or + or even invent your own format and call it DVD=R. Just ask DVDSP2 to save the disc as an image (the hammer button, not the nuclear radiation warning), and you're good to go. Toast won't like your DVD=R's so much though...

    Hi again!
I tried DVDSP2 now BUT it goes rather fast to 28% of encoding and there it stops Any ideas? Same if I save to disk.

Im am trying to burn a 2 hour DivX movie.

(My Computer is a G4 QS 867Mhz/698Mb RAM)

  10. If you have DVDSP2 installed then you have the MPEG2 encoder in Quicktime Pro. You can use it to export to an MPEG2. Open up your divx in Quicktime, then do a Save as. Use this tutorial (just skip past the FCP stuff) http://www.lafcpug.org/tutorials/basic_fcp4_mpeg2.html to create the format you need. Use DVDSP2 to build the disk once your elementary streams are made by QTPro.
