  1. I've tried encoding my .avi, divx files with TMPG Enc,
and it seems to work fine, converting it into mpeg1... but when i go to play the video, there is only audio..
    the screen is black.

    can someone help?

    thanks.
    peace.

  2. I'm having the same problem too
The avi file that u have must have been encoded using the old MPEG-4V3 (beta). The new version of MPEG-4v3 is no longer supported in avi file. Your MPEG-4v3 codec is newer than 4.00.0.3688, that's why u won't see anything.

You can look for an older version of the codec or get a full release of the Windows Media Tools that includes a command line utility (vidtoasf.exe) that can convert your old MPEG4-v3 AVIs to ASFs.

which is what I'm trying to do right now.
Let me know if u can find the older version/ the full release. Good Luck!

  4. when i open the file for encoding in TMPG Enc,
    the picture does not load.
the box stays black, instead of playing the movie while encoding...

this is part of the problem. does that happen to you too?

  5. ya, it happens to me too. It's the MPEG-4v3 codec.
I already tried looking for the beta MPEG-4v3 codec, but it's nowhere to be found. There is one website I went to, the zip file has already been taken off.
    Good Luck!
