  1. Which software should I use to strip extras from a DVD and let DVDshrink compress it ? I can't use DVDShrink's reauthor function because I don't want to lose the menu.

For example in DoItFast4U! I can select which VTS I want and let CCE compress it. However CCE always locks up my computer and I don't have time to look into the problem (maybe next weekend).

Basically I just want something to rip the extras and let DVDShrink compress the main movie while preserving menus.

    Thanks

IFOEdit can filter out titlesets as well as unwanted audio, etc. Use this and then Shrink its output.

    There is a guide here.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. in Shrink you cannot cut extra without re-authoring but you can set to be as still image so it can boost the main movie compression rate. Or you can use something that works very nicely called CloneDVD by Elby. The latest version is cool which allows more options. CloneDVD is not a freeware but it doesn't mean you can't get it fro free if you know what I mean I won't go into detail for that...

  5. DVDStripper is another possibility you might check out. As with IFOEdit, you need to know a bit about DVD structure. Sounds like you do.

  7. Your way requires too many steps just to have original menu in which it have to decrypt it first with Decrypter then then use Shrink to point to the main movie file. My statement is you cannot do it with Shrink (and just Shrink alone). If you you decrypt and ripped the ovie the there are many other ways to achieve what the orignal poster wanted. IMHO, that was just a hassle just to get the menu working. I rather go with CloneDVD which works beatifully and fast.
