I am looking to create a PAL DVD that has still images recorded from a NTSC 3CCD Industrial Video camera head that is used on a copystand.
The 3ccd camera is pointing down at the X-ray on a lightbox. When connected to a video monitor or video projector (s-video) the image is fantastic!
I need to demonstrate the image quality of this 3ccd camera to a group in IRELAND(PAL) Before I can go ahead and buy a PAL version of this camera for them, they want to see the image quality themselves.
I would think the best way to demonstrate the image quality would be to send them a DVD that they can simply play in their DVD player.
Because we are dealing with still object(the x-ray), Becasue of the NTSC to PAL conversion, I would think the easiest way send a PHOTO DVD of the captured images.
What I was planning on doing is to use my Sony DV camera(ntsc) to record in S-video the X-ray which in not moving,
Connect the output of the DV Cam to a Snappy, pause the video and capture the image via snappy at the highest resolution that it is capable of.
This should give me very good quality jpgs at a high resolution.
From here I need help. What do I need to do to get these jpgs onto a dvd that can be played back in Irleland(PAL).
I would think I need to resize the image? What else has to be done? What software do I need?
NOTE: Am I going about this the wrong way using the snappy? As I mentioned before these are non-moving objects(x-ray film). The goal is to demonstate the image quality of the 3ccd camera in s-video but have it converted to PAL. I would think that going the captured route is better converting the AVI to PAL? I open to any and all sugestions????
Thanks,
Wade

I am not really sure what you are trying to do here. Does this superb 3CCD camera of yours have any sort of digital Video out such as FireWire. If so that would be the best starting point.

Unfortunately it does not have any digital output. This is why I thought about using my DV Camera's S-video input to record the analog video. It is a Hitachi HV-C20M 1/2" 3ccd camera that has been optimized for displaying Radiological Film in S-video on either Video projectors/Monitors/plasma screen displays. For live video presentation of X-rays, the image quality is excellent.
We simply want to demonstrate the image quality of this brand of camera setup with our specific parameters to a group in Ireland. Of course the best way would be to simply send him the PAL version of this camera, but we dont want to purchase a PAL Hitachi HV-c20 just for demonstration purposes.
I have in the past recorded the video coming off the HV-c20 camera into my Sony DV camera(s-video). I then did a side by side comparison between recorded video and the live video coming off the HV-c20 of the same X-ray, and could hardly tell the difference.
If this group was here in the US I would simply send him the DV tape, but since they need to view it in PAL I can't do this.
Does it make sense to capture stills off the tape? Or would I achieve better results from converting the recorded video to PAL and burn the DVD that way?
Thanks for taking your time..I appreciate any help or techniques you can offer!
