Any freeware progs available for 8mm to DVD conversion?

I’m really knew at this and just trying to do some pretty simple copies of Hi8 camcorder tapes to DVD, no special menus or titles, I’d just be happy with as close to the same quality on the DVD when watched on the TV as I have when I watch the tapes on the TV. I’ve seen a ton of different programs talked about in this forum, but they all seem to involve some purchased software…is there any freeware programs that will do the whole job? I do have Nero to do the burning of the VIDEO_TS files onto DVD, and I’ve downloaded VirtualVCR to do the capturing and creating of the .avi file, so is there anything I can download to get from the .avi to the VIDEO_TS files? Yes. To convert AVI to MPEG, try bbMPEG. Then take your MPEG file and go here.

Use a dvd recorder, no need to make any settings. Just push record & they make a dvd. Sometimes circuit city has them on open box, you could buy it & try it & return if if you want & get your money back.

Handyguy, you know where they have free DVD recorders? He is looking not to pay any money at this time.
