do we have any exact date about the V2 yet
No. It will be available when I have got it to a stable stage and testing has been completed.

I hope the update is ongoing?
It is but I have not being able to give it my full attention. If I could have, it would have been out ages ago. Both work & domestic comitements have ramped up in the last couple of months so my hobby - SVCD2DVD - has suffered.

In software development terms, I estimate about 10 man days worth of effort remaining to get to a stage where v2 could go into public beta. It is just a case of my availability as to when I can fulfill this.

unicornz: Thanks for the post. My intention is to continue with improving what we have and not to go OTT.

why dont you update us about the V2?
    Well currently there is:

    - new gui
    - new code architecture. The core code has been completely rewritten & going forward, maintenence & new features will be easier.
    - integrated demuxer. I have written one as when issue arise it is usually in this area. So when things choke I can fix them.
    - ability to handle ac3 mpgs as inputs
    - ability to handle mpgs with more than one audio stream.
    - new menu builder with snap to grid & more alignment options than you can shake a stick at.
    - Menu/DVD previewer (just menus at the moment but i might have it to preview the whole dvd structure using clips of the mpgs)
    - audio menus.
    - project saving/loading: this can facilitate templates
    - Integrated burning (if you have Nero 6)

Thats just of the top of my head.

I have a few outstanding things I want in there b4 i stop & get all of that stable for the public. Once that has been tested I will release it (to keep everyone happy!). Then i will continue to add some more things i have on the todo list.

So v2 will probably be release in two stages. A preview so you guys can use it - & give feedback. Followed by a final release with more of the things that were promised.

The question is whether I can get stage one out b4 my holiday!

Er.. yes. I was hoping that something could be released (either internally or externally) this week.... However I have had an XP SP2 nightmare which has lost me 2 days & I am still not recovered to where i need to be!!!

That said i am eager to get what i have out so that i can then get technical feedback. Thus if people want to beta test, email me with your typical svcd2dvd useage & I will choose about 10+ peeps to do an internal test with.

  15. The only thing I really wanted was an integrated ac3 encode (which seems to be going in... WOOT!). Other than that, the new interface looks GREAT! I can't wait for V2 to come out.

Often when I want to quickly watch a video on my TV (avi or what not), I simply encode it as an SVCD and let SVCD2DVD due the authoring. Since I am doing the encoding I actually encode the audio at 48kHz to avoid SVCD2DVD having to re-sample it. Problem is, the program demux's the file sees that it's already good, and muxs it back together anyway. It would be nice if the program would be intelligent enough to skip this step if the file already has 48kHz audio or at least be able check off a box to skip it. Unless it needs to be demux/muxed for some other part of the process it would be much faster to just add the nav packs and create the DVD folders.

Can you re-download the beta to get the latest build?

Can you not use custom audio in the menu settings(use silence) and see if that gives you the same error.

As i can't replicate this can you email me the audio file for me to try?
