Hope this is the right place for this.

I want to replace my rather aging Voodoo 3 3000 16MB AGP card.

I've been looking at various sites but I'm totally confused as to the various chipsets that are around and variations of card. For example what the differences are between SE etc. Also the various makes such as Hercules, Nvidia & Radeon to name but a few.

I am not a gamer, apart from Flight Simulator 2000, but ideally I'd like to get a card that would allow me to capture analogue video (if had audio input as well that would be a real bonus) although that's not an absolute must. I also want a card with a minimum of 128MB of RAM.

I'm hoping to get a TFT monitor in a few months time so I'd like a card that would work well with that.

I had thought I'd bought myself a 128MB Radeon 9200 (which looked a nice card) on eBay but it turned out to be a 9200 SE and they couldn't supply the 9200.

I have set myself a budget of between £30-£40(GBP).

Can someone please help me to understand what I need to look for and possibly suggest suitable cards I should consider.

    Thanks

    Chris

If you need video capture on the card then likely your going to Need an ATI All in Wonder card. Such as teh 9200 all in wonder.

However you may be better off getting a seprate video card and capture card. Though many say the capture on the ATI is fine.

Limiting yourself with those costs. That's about $80US or so. Personally I loathe the AIW cards but some people swear by them. Unfortunately a good capture device is about 3x what you want to spend on just a video card. My entry level card currently is the PNY GeForceFX 5200. Both the AGP and PCI variants are fast and pretty powerful. They come in at around $100US though and you'd still have to find a capture device.
