Even if I haven't tried it myself, there seems to be only one app that can cut mpg with something even approaching "problem free": Womble mpg vcr
I've tried every other app I could find to do this, but never got consistent success with any of them (major problem is sync issues).

  3. I've cut mpegs with all sorts of tools, some work, some don't.
Regardless, I just run it through VCDGear, then burn.
    Works every time.

My thoughts exactly. Womble MPEG2 VCR is the best mpeg editor there is.

Just a suggestion, have you tried splitting it before converting, also if your using tmpeg enc. it has that nifty source range option.
I usually split before converting. I use easy video splitter which will allow you set a certain size, length, number of sections, or you can set slightly overlapping start points and end points and do as many as you like if there going to be on different discs, if there going to be on the same disc and your vcd player supports continuous play I would suggest not overlapping (it gives me a belly ache).

I agree, that's the ideal, but as forare is capturing directly to VCD spec mpg, teher's no conversion involved... The ideal in this case would be if it's possible to tell the capturing soft to split the output at certain size, like 780 - 790 MB.

  7. I was able to split the file using winproducer 3 , you can figure it to split the mpeg2 file at a certain size / time . Thanks for all the help
