Sometimes when I record something on a DVD. I will then come back and see the TV screen is in black and white and the picture is not moving. I hit the STOP to end the recording and I have the word "INVALID" pop up on the TV screen. I have to unplug the recorder to end the recording.
Has anyone else had this happen to them either with this APEX or any other brand? If so what would be causing this?

There is a firmware update for this player. go to APEX website download it and burn it to a CD-RW or a DVD+RW then flash it might fix the problem.

It's a bad disc locking up the player.

I just checked on the APEX web page and there is no listing for a firm ware update. I know someone that can copy this to a CD Disk.

Freezing can be cured by doing the firmware update and installing an internal fan in units that tend to overheat. Another problem is the power supply tends to output 12 volts that is too low and the unit can burn out in about a year. It can be repaired and upgraded for $35.00 though.
