So, here's the deal. I had the idea to compress 3 or 4 movies into the old VCD format and burn them all onto 1 DVD. I've done this just a few times, for movies that are pretty good but maybe not good enough to waste one of my PRECIOUS, PRECIOUS DVD-rs on. :P
Anyway, so I had a 1.x GB movie sitting on my 74/80 GB hd (74/80 depending how you look at it) and it played fine at first. A few weeks later it's got all these glitches and one of them went out of sync with the audio (happened 3 times now) after one of the glitches. One time a frame from ANOTHER vidfile actually showed up in one of the glitched files.
So I'm wondering, is this because my hd is going bad? Or is there something about the format and large mpg1 files sitting around for too long? And if it is the hd, is this because it's gone bad or is this maybe a common problem for all large harddrives?
