Might be better to get a HDVCR. -
I think it'll be a year or more before these things would ever be priced where Joe Lunchpail can afford them.

ATSC digital can be up to 18GB per hour.

Wow here I've been wondering and hoping that dual layer DVD burning would eventually come to stand alone DVD recorders but damn this sounds even better.
Unfortunately I'm sure the price will be DAMN expensive.
At this point I'm happy recording "normal" Full D1 resolution ... not interested in HDTV all that much ... but would like higher capacity.
Would be nice to do 8000kbps video and PCM audio and get at least 2 hours or more per disc.
