  1. I can't believe this whole Dish/Viacom/CBS fiasco. Everyone in the world will have the luxury of live games while I'm stuck checking scores on espnews and on the website. Anybody else upset about this?

  2. yeah several channels are now gone because of this issue . we paid for these channels we should either continue getting our channels or be refunded for these channels we no longer have.

in fact, we are probably going to be switching to cable, it could actually save us money if we make the switch.

    alright

  3. write a letter to viacom and tell them you dont like them raising their rates, you can do without their channels and will be keeping dish network regardless.

both viacom and dish network are greedy, but maybe viacom will cave in..

both companies are losing money on this.. less viewers means less money for viacom.. people ditching their dishes and getting cable or directv means lost money for dish network.

You DID get your money refunded. I heard they're giving a $1 credit to all of the affected customers What's the big deal?

Exactly my point. Like a dollar is going to appease anyone. I remember when I had Directv, they had a rift with somebody, but they patched it up in a few weeks. Maybe you'll be as lucky...

I'm going to assume you are not from the States. Oh well, you have your rails and trails, we have basketball.

You know what's funny is that I used to feel the same way. Then, for some reason, I started liking basketball. Now I like it the way I like football -- I'll watch any game as long as it's not a blowout.

By the way, I heard on the radio today that the Viacom stations are back.

  10. Good News Sounds like they reached an agreement and I will be getting basketball after all. What a great day!

By the way, $1 is a slap in the face. That really ticked me off when I heard that.

Edit: MrMungus just beat me with the news.

I'm glad you guys will get to see March Madness...really. But since it took all that time to type...I have to post this...

Professional Basketball – A group of overpaid uneducated past or future criminals divided into two teams exchanging photo opportunities while shoving a ball through a suspended hoop placed 10 feet above the ground. Being that the average height of said past or future criminal is near 7 feet tall this does not provide much of a challenge.
Rule changes….though “silent” ones…came about during the height of popularity of The Harlem Globetrotters in the 1970’s. These rule changes can be seen in a most dramatic fashion by simply watching the movie “Hoosiers”….then watching todays antics on the court.
Remember when simply placing your hand on the SIDE of the basketball while you were dribbling got you a call for “travelling”? Welcome to the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey NBA. Next years rule changes are rumored to be that Ear Biting is allowed.

College Basketball - A group of overpaid(via “gifts”, passing grades for academic courses you never attended and free tuition while others pay dearly) uneducated past or future criminals divided into two teams exchanging photo opportunities while shoving a ball through a suspended hoop placed 10 feet above the ground. Being that the average height of said past or future criminal is near 7 feet tall this does not provide much of a challenge.

Next years rule changes are rumored to be that accepting a brand new Cadillac Escalade as a gift from the university is allowed “officially”.

Just to even things out....have you ever seen European Handball?....equally as "challenging"...

Especially true for the Portland [Jail]blazers, Jason Kidd, Spre, and the other thugs on the court.

HOWEVER, I still find it to be the most entertaining of all professional sports. I grew up playing baseball, but watching it is a bore. Just give me the scores and highlights on Sportscenter. Pus all this steriod garbage (5 of 7 tested positively in anonymous testing last year!) has made me even less interested.

The NBA is where its at, criminals or not. At least they aren't mugging me on the streets.

Jailblazers....that's classic....gotta write that one down..
I was never a HUGE sports nut but I do miss hockey terribly. All I see of American hockey here in Europe are highlights....and only occasionally when someone gets his neck broken....that was freakin' terrible.

  16. Dude's going to prison for sure. The cheap shot artists are the absolute worst. That's why I never really liked Stockton or Malone (despite currently living in Utah), or especially Isiah Thomas.

EDIT: I can't take credit for "Jailblazers"- it's a Sportscenter original.

How are Stockton to Malone a cheap shot? I believe the phrase is fundamental basketball, that is a more ept description of Stockton to Malone.

Also, I never liked the Jazz[lifelong Sonics fan], but I did like watching them since they are the last team to play like a TEAM. No show boaters or camera muggin' fools.

The closest thing to the way the Jazz play are the Timberwolves, Spurs, and Kings.

Oh, and I had lived in UT for 5 years, now I am in MN, wich sucks, its -10 right now, MINUS TEN IN MARCH! I hate it.
