  1. Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as importing various DVD logos into the Epson Print CD program and making adjustments to color? I have downloaded the logos from different sites and some are in tiff, some in jpeg, a few in gif file format.
What I am trying to do is simply add a logo BUT have the ability to change the color of said logo. They all seem to be black with a white background.
Using the Ep Print CD program, what I usually do is after adding a background image, I select "add a picture" at which point I select one of the DVD video logos I have downloaded. No problem there. I size the DVD logo and select the check box that says "make white transparent". At this point, the only logos that work when eliminating the white background all together are the tiff and gif formatted ones. Any one know why this is?
My main question I guess is how do I go about changing the color of the actual logo (from black to red for instance) ?
I have imported some into photoshop and been succesful in changing the color, but then when I save them as jpegs and then try to import them into Epson's program again, there is just a white background only.
    Help?

Also, Surething is out of the question for me as I am using Mac and it is not supported.

I guess this isn't what you want to hear, but, if you have Photoshop, you should create your disc image there; once you have finished the image export the whole thing into uncompressed TIF format for use in the Epson Print CD program.

I base my images on a 121mm x 121mm Canvas using a 119mm diameter circle centered for the actual disc image. The default Epson Import Background Image centers the image onto the disc template.

The Epson software is really only useful as a template/print manager. There are even Photoshop templates floating around that you can bypass the Epson software altogether. Word has it, Photoshop prints better images.

Hope this is enough to get you started...

If you really are committed to using the Epson Software, export your modified logos into uncompressed TIF or GIF images not JPEG for transparent backgrounds

  4. when you edit your logo, see if you can save it as a PNG format. The reason why the jpeg might not work w/ the 'make background ..' has to do w/ transparency and whether it is supported by the various format. PNG supports transparency which helps. TIFF might, I think jpeg doesn't.

  5. Thank you too Dave. Yeah, you're right about those jpegs .. just been reading about transparencies in regard to different file formats.

  6. I do all my editing and adding in photoshop.. although any paint program will do. All I use epson program for is the actual printing on the disc and if I just want text only.

Would someone write a guide for the print CD software? Seems there are a lot of questions that keep coming up. Please include a bunch of pictures. Thanks.

The software is so basic it's hard to say what would be in a guide. The guide would be (1) create or get your graphics (2) open print CD and open your graphics images, (3) print. I think b/c the s/w is so simple, it forces most of the work into (1), which is pretty wide open. Just my take / 2c.

  14. Photo Shop is good...good and expensive. I've done all my graphics using Real Draw Pro. This is a great graphics program. Check them out at http://www.mediachance.com/.
You know these guys. They also make DVD-lab, Edit Studio by Pure Motion, DVD Menu Studio and lot of other very good inexpensive programs. Paint Shop Pro by JASC is another.

Well i find it easer to just use the scanner software to scan the disk 300dpi is enough and save out as a jpg. then use import/picture in the epson software to load the jpg into the program. Might need a bit of resizing but thats easy...

Just drag the pic out to the correct size using the black squares...In the epson cd program.

  20. well the best way to do it is, have a .bmp or .jpg or what ever format and make it a 800x800 pixel square, inside of this sqaure you want to have a circle thats 800 pixel diameter i.e. the edge of the circle is right on the edge of image, no borders are around the image.

Or if you are downloading CD/DVD images from the net, like cdcovers.cc etc you need to crop the images so the CD bit you want to keep(circle) is perfectly inside the image(square), then import into PrintCD and you wont have any allignment problems.

fook its harder to put into words but goto this site http://www.darktown.com/
this person(s) has some great labels and they are perfectly cropped.

  21. also id like to ask how can u make PrintCD/Epsons CD print work faster??? (hide speed)

As when u select media type as CD> then High Speed option is not selectable, sometimes I want to just create some simple color labels and im not looking for a photo finish if you know what I mean and want it to print as fast as possible.....

I messed around with the options and even whislt using PrintCD software I went into advancded setttings, selected media type as Plain Paper and I was able to select the High Speed box, the problem was the printer appeared to use way too much ink, the disc was wet to touch after the process, the image quality was better though then Epsons default CD mode, so basically CD mode but faster speed, is it possible?
