Lately I've been thinking on joining my two disc original version of the Stargate DVD into one DVD+R (even if that requires some compression in order to make it fit into the DVD+R). I've read some tutorials here, but it seems that there are too much options and nobody seems to agree on the best alternative. Also, I don't understand why after using VOB Edit you need to create IFO Files using IFO Edit. I just use to burn VOB files with CLONEDVD, for which IFO files aren't necessary.

I would just like to rip both discs, encode a new set of VOB's files into a new directory, compress them with Clone DVD, and just burn.

Any suggestions and clarifications will be appreciated.

It's easy with DVDShrink....as long as you are not very attached to the menus on the discs. Rip one DVD to the hard drive....let DVDShrink take the video from the other DVD while it is in the DVDRom drive. Reauthor them both together with compression of course. Have DVDShrink create your AUDIO and VIDEO_TS folders....and burn away. The DVD will autostart as soon as it hits your DVD player.
