OK I have tried to weed through the posts here but I was unable to find a solution to this problem. I hope someone with a bit more experience than myself can help.
I am using DVD-lab 1.3 in an attempt to re-author .VOB files direct from a DVD. The DVD itself is a Super Bowl DVD that I would assume was originally created from a master Beta SP tape. The thing is when the original author converted the media to DVD I think he must have had an option similar to DVD-labs "auto insert chapters". There is no method to where the chapters are broken and it drives me nutty. Also there was never a scene selction menu or any type created.
OK So this is what I am trying to do:
Import the .VOB files from the DVD mentioned
Insert chapters where I think they should be placed
Add a menu from one of the templates including scene selections
So I have managed to do all of this with DVD-lab and it look great in the program itself. However, once I compile the DVD and attempt to play it is where I run into problems. I should note that I have not actually burned the compiled files to a DVD. I am only playing the files through Windows Media Player 9 to check them out without wasting DVDs.
Two things happen when I play the files.
1) If I begin the process by importing the .VOB files directly without demultiplexing - the compiled DVD plays both video and audio but when I try to skip to the next chapter, every chapter starts at the 1st chapter I inserted. (even though I indexed all chapters for better reliability)
2) If I begin the process by importing the .VOB files and demultiplexing to elementary streams - the compiled DVD plays both video with NO audio but now when I skip to the next chapter, it actually skips to the next chapter as it was inserted.
Is there a way to find a happy medium to this?
Any help is MUCH appreciated!

When you demux the VOB, does the m2v (video) elementary stream show a 'GOP-0' in the assets window? If so, go into tools and rewrite the GOP timecodes. Stop and restart dvd-lab and import the streams again. Then create your chapters again.
For audio, what is shown in the assets window, PCM, AC3 2/0 5.1, and what bit rate?
Are the times between the video and audio the same (within 1 sec?)
Option 2:
Get rejig and demux the audio from the video outside dvd-lab. Then import the two elementary streams. IF necessary fix the GOP timecodes.
USe the wizards within dvd-lab to build the chapters and connections to ensure proper linking of chapters to buttons etc. .-----------------------------------------------------

OK in the assets windows I don't see anything like 'GOP-0'
The video, are you refering to where the dividers at the top like 'file' 'folder' 'size' fps' 'ratio' 'time' etc.?
The audio is .AC3 - 'system' dolby2/0 - 'avg bitrate' 256kbps
The time is the exact same.
