  1. I have just recently reformatted my computer and have now started my first dvd to svcd project with motion menus and the whole 9 yards. now i am wanting to use virtual dub to prepare the menus (not very fond of tmpengc) after creating a project file from dvd2avi now this requires me to make a dummy avi file because virtual dub obviously doesn't read d2v files so i made one with the vfapi reader but when i load the dummy avi it doesn't load because i need a direct show codec. i installed all my backup codecs and direct show filters i.e.. ffdshow etc... but i'm real stumped on how to find the correct direct show codecrequired to load this dummy avi any help is greatly appreciated.

it's been a while since I used vfapi but I recall it came with a "dummy" codec - I don't think the codec had an install rourine other than right click on inf file...
