I'm trying to obtain music that is playing on a website. It is from a Flash (.swf) file, so I can't go "View Source" in Internet Explorer and find the link.

Is there a program that allows me to record music that is playing from my browser?...or a program that can let me view the source code for the Flash file?

  2. Yeah Camstudio is good for video but most soundcards will work with www.cdwave.com or Audacity .Go to Volume Control(or Mixer) and in Recording select "Stereo Mixer" or "What you Hear".

When I used Audacity to record the stream, the stream was lagging for split seconds 3 or 4 times while I was playing it in Internet Explorer and recording with Audacity.

The song plays back fine when I'm not recording at all, so it must be my computer power, although I don't see the red light blinking like mad when its recording.

I have 128mb P3 650. I think that should be plenty for simply recording audio. Is there a setting I should change that would make the audio not lag when recording?

Correct me if I'm wrong....but doesn't a sound file playing on a website actually end up in your temporary internet files?

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

I know it does with normal website sound in wav files, not sure about flash files though.

  5. I use SoundForge.

I just select 'Wave/DirectSound' or 'What U Hear' on my mixing console and SoundForge grabs it. This is an analog capture method but it works fine.

The sound file for flash sites is also stored in your temporary internet files...you can just copy and paste it....no need to "capture" it.

  9. Total recorder is the best I've found at recording of the net. With my dial-up I get buffered a lot.Not a problem for Total Recorder as it stops recording and begins when the sound plays again. It will record any sound it hears.

Temporary Internet files are the files stored on your computer from each website you visit.

The command line for it is usually:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

where "Administrator" is replaced with the name of your profile when you log into Windows XP.

The SWF file is not a complete video file. It is actually 2 files. Images and sound. They are stored on your pc seperately.
