hey im having a problem sharing a printer on my network. here it goes: the printer is connect to my desktop in the basement. that pc is wired to a d-link wireless router. that computer is running win98se. my laptop is connected wirelessly running winxp pro. and my dad has a laptop connected wirelessly running winme. everything was working fine, both me and my dad could print to the desktop wirelessly as long as the desktop was on. well i had my laptop serviced a few weeks ago and they put in a new motherboard and a new wireless card. ever since then i cannot connect to the desktop to use the printer, and today my dad told me that he cant either. now i cant remember how i had set up the network to get it working before. so i tried running the network wizard on my win xp computer, then making that disk and installing it on the desktop. that didnt work. so then i ran the win98 network wizard on the desktop and made that disc and ran it on my win xp computer. that didnt work either. anyone know how i can get this to work? i had it set up before so that my laptop and my dads laptop could both print on the desktop and share files from all the computers my documents folder. i dont really care about the my documents sharing, i just want to print.

    thanks in advance

wow there are so many things that could be the problem here, have you tried:

    1 diabling firewall protection
2 go to properties on the pc with the printer and make sure make sure the share box is checked and the "little hand" is visable
3 install xp on all systems... sorry I've also had difficulty sharing accross different platforms although xp to 2000 works well

thanks, but i finally got it figured out. on the computer with the printer, i had the printer and the hard drive shared, but i guess my computer didnt recognize it. so i disabled the sharing, and restarted, then re-shared them, and now it works fine. thanks anyway
