  1. I'm facing to a weird problem. Let me explain from the beginning. I
    started to create my own codec pack, which contains DivX, XviD, AC3
    Audio Decoder, Morgam Stream Switcher, VobSub and Ogg. When a install
    those codecs from the original pack, everything works fine. But, from
    my codec pack, those codecs are recognized by Windows (movies powered
    by xvid, divx, ac3 and son, work right), including under Video Codecs
    window at Control Panel. GSpot also detect them. But, VirtualDub
    aren't showing those codecs into compression window. When i try to
    open any file with VirtualDub, i get the error: "Couldn't locate
    decompressor for format XVID (unknow)".
    How do i make the codec? I'll show using xvid for example.
    - My setup program uses regsvr32 to register xvid.ax located into
    system32 directory. xvid.dll is inside that directory too.
    - The following key is added to registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
    NT\CurrentVersion\drivers.desc"; ValueType: string; ValueName:
    "xvid.dll"; ValueData: "XviD MPEG-4";

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
    NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32"; ValueType: string; ValueName:
    "vidc.XVID"; ValueData: "xvid.dll";

    I think i'm forgetting something, and i hope your help.

    By the way, the codec home page is http://corepack.cjb.net

    Thanks in advance!

    Not sure why your codec pack didn't properly install xvid. Frankly it's yet another reason why they should be avoided all together. Get the latest xvid binary here. and see if you still have the same problem.

    Well, i did say about xvid as an example, but the problem also happens with any codec such as DivX...

    Like I said, codec packs are a bad idea. From the sound of things, yours is particularly bad. Uninstall it and only install individualy what you need. See if you still have the same problem.
