I want to know if there is any way of striping the audio from a avi file completely and separating it from the video .. i have tried nandub / virtualdub but when i delete the audio its still on the video also how to take out the over dub in german on avi / mpg
any help in the issues raised would be helpful

virtualdub shoulda worked...but if u want try virtualdubmod. open up the video, go to streams>stream list, then demux the audio.

i think he wants to know how to have a silent avi. no audio at all.
open avi w/ virtual dub, under 'audio' select 'no audio', under 'video' select 'direct stream copy' & then 'file'/ 'save as avi'.
you should have an avi with no sound at all

when you're talking about overdub, i'm guessing you're talking about subtitles? if they're hardcoded in to the movie, then its really not worth the time and effort to do so.. about the time i left the whole divx/xvid scene, non-hardcoded subtitles were emerging, i never took much of an interest in them.. but i dont imagine that type would be too hard to remove. -
Thankx you guys .... i wanted exactly that no audio in the later part and the audio in the next bit was over dubbed material ..in other words the sound on the tape had been overdubbed by some one talking in german but it did help
