  1. I have an avi with low audio levels, I want to rip the audio out, but increase the sound level, anyone know if I can do this with goldwave or Virtualdub.

    Cheers

  2. There is no need to "rip" the audio unless you want to use it for something else. In Virtual Dub click on the Audio menu and select "Full Processing Mode". Click on the Audio menu again and select "Volume". Check the box "Adjust volume of audio channels" and use the slider to select how much you want to raise the volume. Click "OK" Go to the Video menu and select "Direct Strem Copy" Then go to File menu and chose "Save as..." and select a location and a DIFFERENT file name. It should be rather quick since you are not re-encoding the video.

Now you can, (if you really want to rip just the audio track and use for other purposes), Open the newly created avi with louder volume. Click the File menu and select "Save Wav" This will create a Wav" file with just the audio
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space.

Try having a look at dbPowerAmp music converter

I use this to rip the audio track from any DVD I'm copying, convert it to a WAV, then run it through dbPowerAmp (with the PowerPack installed) and let the PowerPack perform an 'adaptive normailze' and convert it to an MP2

This doesn't just boost all the volume, the audio should still sound the same as the loud parts won't be boosted as much as the quiet parts

This makes a big difference when I re-author it back to DVD, as I normally use 2 movies per DVD, and also my DVD player is known for faily quiet playback anyway, but after this process its much louder, without any distortion
