  1. I have an NEC 1300A which I bought about 2 months ago and use Princo 4x DVD-R's (burnt at 2x only). Up until the other day, I had burnt about 50 DVD's without getting any coasters, but within the last 3 days, I've had 4 (out of about 10) failed burns. In each case, Nero (v6.0.0.20) gets up to 99% or 100% and then freezes, and the only way to eject the DVD is to reboot.

Could it be the media that is causing Nero to freeze? I would've thought it would generate an error rather than lock up totally. Or could my drive have developed a problem?

    Thanks,
    Chris

PS My system is: XP Professional, P4 2.8ghz, 512 ram, 80 gb HD.

  2. heja!

well, i hade problems with nero, when starting the burning proces...
    • - What helped with me, was connecting the other rom drive and putting the DVD-writer on master...
      - also check your cables to your motherboard...
      - RE-instal your IDE devices, found in the hardware section of windows.
      - Also, what can help, is installing the latest ASAPI for windows and the one for nero. these can be found on the dvddecrypter site (note: it's possible that the driver for nero is offline:S)
      - try using a +R instead of -R. in your situation, it's pretty stupid that this would work, cause your burnt a lot of -R before without problems...
      - you can try using an other burningsoftware. copytoDVD for example...
      - Also, an other thing, it's possible that the media you burned is a bad stack. even with a well brand this is possible
      - Also, is the film size over exeeding the limit of the DVD. I had also this problem that the movie was to big, about 300MB. if using the latest version of DVDshrink and al copression levels set automatic, there should be no problem with burning...

Well that's that for me! good luck

try them and if you have more questions, feel free to awnser!

    cheers!

you could try all that, but im guessing its the media. bad media usually fails at the last 5% or so. what are you trying to burn? if your trying to burn a dvd backup, try making the file smaller, maybe 4000mb-4200mb. or get some new media and try that too
