  1. It seems some apps will reconvert that to 720x480 (dvd architect included). So why not just capture at 720 and forgo another conversion where info could be lost?

Is there a way to get a 352x480 reso onto dvd using an authoring app or should I just capture at 720x480 even though this is a waste (for vhs and Hi8) video?

  2. You'll see many arguments on this. I capture at 368x480 and crop to 352 (see the (amazing discovery in capture... thread). I burn 352x480 onto DVDs exclusively. I can get more onto a DVD that way as I can lower the bitrate. Some authoring apps insist on reencoding though. I had one that did that and got rid of it. I use dvdauthor with liquid217's sweet GUI...

The problem is not the resolution. On your case, it's a really crappy authoring program.

A good authorign app should take all, if not most, DVD resolutions and both MPEG formats (allowed in spec, at least).

  4. i use 352x480 when i'm burning episodes of tv series, there is a quality sacrifice, but the amount of episodes you can get on a disc makes up for it.. atleast for me.
