DVD Shrink works great. You can BACKUP the entire dvd or just the parts you want.

You also have the choice to either backup to your hard drive OR backup to immediatly reburn to DVDR.

    Hey DVDDave,

in dvddecrypter go Mode/ISO/Read , this will create an image file .ISO

to burn go Mode/ISO/Write select the ISO file and it will burn it for you

only good for DVD5 , ie single layer DVD's

  4. As stated above there are two ways people burn DVD Videos with DVD Decrypter.

    1) Backing up a DVD5 (single layer) disc
    a. choose "mode | iso - read" and rip an ISO image file to the HD
    b. choose "mode | iso - write" select the image file, insert blank media and burn

    2) To burn a generated VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS folder
    a. d/load and install imgtools classic
    b. make an iso image file using imgtools
    c. see above ("mode | iso - write")

So a 100% freeware solution for backups is dvd decrypter, dvd shrink and imgtools. Between these three programs you're pretty much set. The reason a lot of people here recommend imgtools/dvd decrypter is because it produces a more compatiable DVD image then burning with say nero. A lot of people use nero and have no problems, but IMHO it's worth about as much as a bag of warm cow dung.
