  1. I have some videos that are mpg1 and i think they are from vcds. When i try to convert the mpg1 to mpg2 with procoder they lose a lot quality. I have heard that you only have to resample the audio to 48khz since the video is already dvd compatible. I am trying to put these files on a dvd. I have looked around but did not see any guides on how to resample the audio or the best way to do this. Can someone please give me some advice?

  2. There's a guide in the author section (see link above) but basically here's what you do:

    1. Run TMPGenc, choose 'mpeg tools,' then choose simple demux. Select your source and demux it to seperate m1v (video) and mp2 (audio) files

    2. (optional) d/load tooLame and SSRC, run TMPGenc choose 'options | environmental settings | audio engine'. Under MPEG1 audio layer II choose external program and point it towards toolame. Under sampling freq converter choose external program and point it towards ssrc. These program do a better job with audio than TMPGenc's native codecs. You're now set to use TMPGenc asa GUI for these two programs

    3. Select the audio file, set the encode to 'ES audio only', then click settings and change the audio freq to 48k and set bitrate as desired (I normally set to same as source).

    4. You can then author as normal using the m1v file and '48k audio file.'
