    Hi all,

I read almost all section of this forum and can't get to find a way to convert a avi file properly to a vcd.

I resently downloaded a TV episode, the file is AVI. I want to convert this file to a mpg file so that I can make a VCD of it. When I use TMPGEnc and convert it to a MPG file my 357MB AVI file becomes a +1GB MPEG file. The same happens with other tools.

Can some1 give me a step by step manual how to convert a 357 MB AVI file to a 450 MB MPEG or VCD file (pls. include the programs to use). What ever I do it doesn't seem to work, I only have sound one way or the movie doesn't play right (stutter).

Hope some1 can help me with this problem.

    Tnx. in advance.

The size (in bytes) of the source material (AVI) is irrelevant. What matters is length (in time). At VCD quality and standard, you get about 80 mins in 800 MB (=1 800MB VCD): 10 MB/minute. And that is how low on quality you want to go - believe me. SVCD is higher quality, but less time per CD. Use TMPGEnc and the VCD template when encoding until you start getting warm, and can tweak some settings.
