  1. Hi All

Can a multi sequence video VCD be burnt in Toast. It can but they never seem to work in VLC.

Drop an Mpeg into Toast and burn a video disk, this video disk can then be
played in VLC no problems at all.

If I then try and burn a multi video sequence VCD in Toast, either build it in VCDbuilder 1.1 first or drop the Mpeg sequences into Toast, this is the result.

In both cases the first sequence plays fine, when the time to switch to the next sequemce comes, VLC throws up block and sector errors.

I can burn a multi video sequence VCD using Firestarter FX which plays in VLC with no problems at all, so I assume the problem is with Toast.

So I assume the problem is with Toast?

I know burn all my VCDs using two FREEWARE programs:- VCDbuilder 1.1 & Firestarter FX and I have no problems with sector or block errors in VLC.

    Chris,
    this is still very strange,
because I have created mutli sequence VCDs in Toast
using VCD Builder 1.1, and do not have such errors in
    VLC 6.2 ( 7.1a still has problems).

    Have you tried the following:

    1. upon launch of VCD Builder 1.1, if you have say
three mpgs, try the selection "Menu with Three Sequences"
and now you will be given the menu splash and three sequence
windows? Drag and Drop your mpegs ( one each) into (one each)
of the three sequence windows, taking care that
they are in the order you wish them to play ( 1., 2., 3.)
    2. Place a .jpg into the menu window
    3. Click burn and burn with Toast.
    4. Test in VLC?

You can place several MPGs into one sequence window
using the "Menu and One Sequence" selection, and they will
play seamlessly, but however if the MPGS are the slightest out of
spec ( audio and video) it will cause VLC to error out.

Try my above answer and post back, I'm curious of the outcome.

  3. Here are the errors I get on A sequence switch in VLC 6.2

vcd: could not read block 89442
vcd: could not read sector 89442

And remember this was the same result after doing a repair on all three MPEGs as you described to me in my other question.

    Ok,
in VLC 7.1a, I have got the problem to replicate.
when playing a VCD that was built with one sequence and a menu,
the first title played fine, but when it came time to switch to the
next title, it didn't do it automatically.

If you go under Controls-->Title, and select the next title,
it will play correctly, by allowing you to skip to the next title
    set.

THe VCDs all work fine and normal in settop DVD players though.

I will further review and test with another VCD using 3 sequences
( thus seperating the MPGS from one another in the VCD) in
VLC 7.1a, and do some testing in VCL 6.2.
