  1. I had 3 operating systems win 98, win 2k and XP. Win 98 and 2k are on the same partition ie C: and xp on D:.
Win 2k had developed some errors and I wanted to repair that one, but ended up with 3 copies of win 2k on C drive( three diff directotries named WINNT, WINNT.1, WINNT.2).
The booting sequence now reads as
    Windows XP professional
    windows 2000 professional
    windows 2000 professional
    windows 2000 professional
    windows 98

I want to get rid of win 2k. Are there any ways to do so other that formating C:

  2. Yes

Right now i'm on WinME @ work so I'm typing this memory so I may be a little off.

    - If Xp loads by default, if you don't push any buttons while it's booting up. then You can simply delete/format the Win2000 partition(s) from the XP directory.

Then you have to change the boot file (I think it's like this in XP)
    right click my computer
    properties
then one of those tab has the option of selecting which OS boots 1st and the pause time before it loads the default OS. (Usually 30 seconds)
    or....

You can also manual change the boot sequence file. I think it's called boot.ini in XP it should be on the root directory of you XP (C:\) then just edit that file. You'll have to change your folder options to show all hidden and system files to see it. Don't mess it up though or it might not boot next time :P

If you have no idea how to do it then I would suggest "Partition Magic" it's an easy Program that will allow to do it. Do a search in this forum and you'll find another qusetion a lot like this one. I read it about a month ago

Someone in here will fill in the blanks for me
