  1. I started a similar topic on this a while back, and just got a mail about it.

Figured some others might benifit from this as well:

    Hello.

Did you ever figure the problem you were having with your AIW card's recording volume? I have the exact same problem.

When I watch TV with TV-ON-DEMAND disabled, everything is perfect. When I turn it on, or watch a recorded program, the volume fluctuates from high to low. I have an AIW 9000 Pro with a NEO2-FISR2 - I believe the same setup as you do.

    Let me know.

    Thanks!

    My response:
A lot of people seem to have similar problems.

    I'm using a 9800 Pro AIW, the 865PE NEO2-FISR.

A solution I've found when recording that works everytime is to make sure I'm recording the 'stereo mix' instead of 'line in'.

To do this just open up volume control, then options - properties, select recording. Click 'stereo mix' instead of line in.

You will have to do it every time you start up TV, as the TV sets the recording source to line-in.

Let me know if it helps you too!

  2. Are you guys using a Sound Blaster Live! sound card? Had a similar problem with AIW 7500. Some of the SB Live! cards had drivers that were never very compatible with Win2k or XP. After a capture, the 'line-in' would mute itself. A second capture 'session' had no audio. I had to un-check the mute prior to every capture. Solved the problem by buying a sound card from another maker.

Get a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and you will have zero compatibility problems. The output is superior to the Sound Blaster.

  4. The FIS2R uses the Realtek ALC655 audio system.

I know a lot of people root for off-board sound, but I'm really happy with this set up. I have fiber optic digital out and I hook this up to my H/K Processor then on to my amp and speakers.

Never had any problems with quality at all.

  5. To keep from manually changing the record option to "Analog Mix" each time you run the MMC TV app, go into the setup and re-run the Initialization Wizard. It'll prompt you for the line to record and you can set it to whatever you want. If you use the Scheduler to record programs when you aren't at home, it's a must to do this, otherwise you end up with no audio (or poor audio).
