TDK/Toast - Buffer Underrun Error

Hi, I am receiving an Buffer Underrun Error message when I try to burn DVD-R: "Writing was halted b/c data could not be sent to the recorder fast enough to maintain the current write speed. Please try again with a slower write speed."

Check speed numbers look good. I have tried 4x, 2x, 1x write speed - no luck with DVD-. DVD+ worked fine, but is not ideal for my mac.

Any suggestions for recording to DVD-???

I am using the TDK indiDVD 8x +/- 840G recorder on an ibook, OSX 10.3.2 (updated the iTunes/DiscBurner drive profile from TDK site), Toast Titanium 5.2. I am willing to upgrade, but only if software is the problem. If it's a hardware problem then I'd like to fix that (return & replace drive).

I can successfully burn to DVD+, but not DVD-. I have tried Memorex and TDK discs.

The buffer underrun protection in Toast was broken in Panther with the +/- DVD drives. So Roxio released the Toast 5.2.3 update for Toast Titanium 5 users or the 6.0.3 update for Toast 6 users.

If you are using 5.2 then it's possible you have Toast Lite. In this case you need to download the Toast 5.2.2L update for Toast Lite at the Lacie support site.
