OK it may not be a true super computer, but it is still a neat little machine:

Now if we can just get some mpeg encoders to work in this type of environment

(each board about $99USD, plus extras) http://www.idotpc.com/TheStore/Desktop/767Spec.asp?Product.id=767&Cate.id=5&Product.status=green
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

Yeah, great isn't it? i've actually been thinking about building something similar. In the next two months or so my work is taking out and dumping about thirty P400 machines. now i just need an extra house to keep them all in.....
It's quite surprising how much better tasks can be achieved with distributed or cluster computing, i can't remember the name of them now, but there was a stoery on Toms' about an extremely low wattage CPU, in a cluster of 32 units, on one PCI card, that elevate your PC to super computer status! now how quick would that run CCE i wonder....

    I was waiting for that

OK maybe better to say mini parallel processor super computer. What is the definition again? A Gigaflop or a Teraflop?

BTW, I here the Mac super computer is getting upgraded to rackmount dual 2.2Ghz X-servers. I bet that cuts down the size by a lot. Also the shorter cabling should improve the speed a little too.

Once upon a time, I was going to build a stuper computer out of about 20 386 25Mhz machines. Mostly just so I could learn to build one.
