First of all, let me say that Galactica's tutorials are first rate and an excellent source of info for the Mac community. I think that I may be doing something wrong but just don't know where.
I converted the SVCD to a disk image (.toast) just fine in Toast. I changed the extension from .toast to .bin as well. The problem comes when I take that .bin image and try to extract the video from it using VCDToolsX (v1.1).
VCDTools allows me to select the .bin file and the output destination but when I hit the "Start" button it runs for all of half of a second. The resultant file is folder with the name of the .bin file and there's nothing in it!
I've followed the instructions to the letter but cannot seem to get past this. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, please let me know how you got around it.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Reeve

now that i have my ability to post back ill tell you what i said
1. try to view the .bin in VLC. see if it plays properly. If not you know something happened during creation of the image, and i suggest you try again
2. if it does play, then i dont really know what to say other than try VCDGear (however it requires you to have some knowledge of the terminal as its command is bin2mpg) -
Thanks galactica,
I can play back the .bin fine in VLC so the disk image was good. I tried using vcdtoolsx again and tried using some of the options ("ignore EXT/PSD_X.vcd" and "don't rip mpeg streams") in every possible combination but to no avail - I still get a folder in the directory I specified with the same name as the .bin file.
I haven't tried your second suggestion of using VCDGear as my terminal knowledge is very limited.
Any other suggestions would be welcome while I look into VCDGear.
Thanks! -
solution #1
GUMBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
use the SVCD Jelly function to extract mpeg2 files.
just drop the .bin in there and hit process
kick back and wait for the typical gumby "YOUR FILE IS READY" announcement -
